The Paterson Parking Authority's Service Mission
The Paterson Parking Authority makes customer service our highest priority. We are dedicated to providing Paterson residents, visitors, shoppers and tourists the best possible service, including:
- Attractive, convenient and handicapped-accessible facilities
- Courteous and affordable service
- Safe parking environments
- Comprehensive parking management services that support economic development and help to improve traffic flow and public safety.
- Ensuring a substantial supply of reasonably priced off-street parking.
- Regulating the use of on-street parking
The Paterson Parking Authority is a public body politic and corporate, created in 1948 by the City of Paterson and existing under the State of New Jersey?s Parking Authority Law 40:11A.
The Paterson Parking Authority is governed by a Board consisting of seven commissioners.
The Authority was created for the purpose of acquiring, constructing, maintaining, and operating parking facilities. In addition, the authority helps alleviate traffic congestion caused by excessive parking on the streets and improves the movement of traffic within the City.
The Authority owns and or operates 20 parking facilities, a total of approximately 5,000 parking spaces are provided in these facilities. Rates are based on parking facility location, and are individually posted in all of our sites. Please see rate structuring Individual Site Maps. The Authority provides coupon books that contain 22 coupons (one coupon per parking transaction) at a rate of $120.00.
The Authority also has approximately 1,310 meters on the streets and in designated parking lots throughout the City.
Our meter department is responsible for installations, removals, repairs and the collections of the meters. Enforcement of the meter regulations is performed by the Paterson Police Department as well as our Parking Authority Enforcement personnel.
The Laws under which the Authority operates encourages expansion of parking facilities to meet the increasing demand for parking. The Authority recognizing that need continues to aggressively pursue expansion by building additional parking facilities, creating leasable retail space within the facilities, upgrading its current facilities, broadening the range of transportation?related services and proposing reasonable adjustments to its rate schedules in order to further enhance its revenue potential. The Authority contributes significant revenues to the City of Paterson while successfully meeting its mandate to provide safe, attractive, conveniently located and competitively priced Public Parking Facilities.
The Paterson Parking Authority Office is located at 125 Broadway, Suite 100, Paterson, NJ 07505 and is open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday and 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturdays.
